Memorial Day Weekend – 2013!!

Two Memorial Day weekends ago Darrell, dad and I went camping at Happy Acres Kampground in Wisconsin. The day we got there we went to Lake Geneva to walk around and have dinner. On Saturday we actually went and visited our friends Ann & Dennis in Fox Lake, IL at their cabin. Darrell, dad & Dennis stayed behind while Ann and I went horseback riding and it was so much fun! I’d love to do it again sometime!
2013-05-25 11.56.40Afterwards we went back to their beautiful cabin and they made us dinner and we all ate together! We had a really good time!
2013-05-25 17.21.18Even though we were full from our dinner we found out that we would be passing a Dog ‘n Suds on our way back to the campground and we just HAD to stop for a snack!!

Book 98 of 500!

This book was called The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that changed America by Erik Larson. It was a little slow at first, but once it got going it was very good. I did enjoy all the facts about the World’s Fair in Chicago, because I wish I could have gone there, but sometimes it was really boring instead of making it flow. That’s why during the fair it was much more interesting. The best part of the book for me were the chapters about a murderer and how he lured his victims during this time. Overall, though, I really liked this book and definitely would recommend it!!

Tattoo!!

On May 22, 2013 I got my first ever (and only) tattoo. I did it in memory and honor of my mom. I just wanted to do something, to show how much I love her and miss her, and something that would be with me forever. I’m glad I did it, but boy did it hurt! Way more than I ever imagined it would! I got it on my wrist which I heard later is one of the worse places to get one, in terms of pain. Oh well, I just hope my mom likes it…..2013-05-22 15.02.592013-05-22 15.08.352013-05-22 15.10.292013-05-22 15.11.012013-05-22 15.24.172013-05-22 15.36.022013-05-22 15.36.14I think it turned out FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tulip Festival 2013 – Orange City, Iowa

Holy cow! I knew I was behind, but WOW! I need to catch up! So 2 Mays ago we had a very nice trip to Iowa. It started with me bringing my 3 babies to my dad’s house in Bensenville. Batman took over the house RIGHT AWAY!
2013-05-08 16.40.18And my Dutch (RIP) & Batman could not get enough of the back screened in porch!2013-05-08 19.24.15Even though she was crabby about being there, Mary even enjoyed the garden window!2013-05-08 19.57.38That night I spent the night in my dad’s RV with Mary, Batman & Dutch so they could get used to it. Early the next morning dad left in the RV with my 3 and Oreo. Poor dad had to travel all the way with 4 animals! Darrell and I left in our 5th wheel 2 days later. When we got there we went to the cemetery to visit with Aunt Kathy, Grandpa Pete & Grandma Liz.2013-05-12 12.08.352013-05-12 12.09.05One morning Darrell, dad, Uncle LeRoy & I went shooting!2013-05-15 10.30.372013-05-15 10.30.47One of our favorite places to eat when in Northwest Iowa is Bob’s in LeMars! It was bittersweet however, because so many people weren’t there to see me, like my mom, aunt & grandparents. I walked in the parade every day and scrubbed the streets and one day I even got to ride in a float!2013-05-16 12.27.492013-05-17 15.18.232013-05-17 15.17.542013-05-17 15.50.582013-05-17 15.51.15I had to take a picture with my aunt since it was her costume I was wearing!2013-05-17 15.45.052013-05-17 15.45.44Besides visiting with family I was super excited to get to see Zoey again! Book 97 of 500!

This book was called Chicks with Sticks (Knit two together) by Elizabeth Lenhard. This was a REALLY good book and I couldn’t put it down! It was about a group of friends in Chicago, which I thought was cool that it had a local setting. They were just regular high school girls except they enjoyed knitting and had a knitting group. Actually in this book knitting was very cool and a lot of people were into it, even some guys. I picked this book because my mom loved to knit. In fact she was going to teach me someday….guess someday never came. However, I totally recommend this book, I enjoyed this author’s writing and I wish there were more books just like this.

Dutchie Poopies!

Here’s another post having to do with my baby boy bunny, Dutch. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him terribly…..

This is a picture of the wood hutch we bought from Farm & Fleet so that Dutch could have a bigger space to live in! I was trying to figure out how to set it up inside, which is funny now, because Dutch was able to do his own decorating!

2013-04-14 15.52.07

Then I let Dutch go check it out for the first time!

2013-04-11 13.07.00

Dutch really liked his new home, but for some reason Mary also thought that this new purchase was for her as well!

2013-04-26 10.14.09

A picture of Dutch enjoying his new bed, that was actually supposed to be a litter box! He would spend a LOT of time here! He loved it so much!

Camping!

Last April, Darrell, the babies and I camped 3 weekends at the Jellystone in Amboy. One weekend we got there and it had rained a LOT and a lot of the campground was flooded!

2013-04-18 15.07.49Here’s what the lake looked like from the flooding:

2013-04-18 15.08.43

Sometimes when it’s been raining a lot they have a waterfall. This time you can only imagine how fast and hard the waterfall was running!

2013-04-20 14.29.38

Another of the weekends we were there, my dad came out, and we went to watch a husky dog demonstration!

2013-04-27 09.45.31

I found a husky that I really loved and who wanted to go home with me!

2013-04-27 09.36.02

This husky was GIGANTIC! Biggest one I’ve ever seen!

My babies!

Here is an adorable picture of my Batman lounging on the couch!

2013-04-24 19.11.30

Here is a picture of my adorable Mary laying on my papers and not letting me finish up what I was doing!

2013-04-24 19.12.04

I got a package and Mary decided she wanted to lay on the box outside especially since it was up high!

2013-05-07 17.48.10

Here is one of my adorable Oreo, laying with me when I was at my parent’s house!

2013-05-02 20.31.29

This picture makes me so sad and happy at the same time. It’s the first time I put my baby Dutch outside in the kitty tent with Mary and Batman. The kitties were checking him out!

2013-04-29 10.13.50

Dutch really enjoyed being outside!!

2013-04-29 10.13.34

Then the best thing ever! I put in the kitties chairs inside that they love to lay on. I couldn’t believe my eyes when Dutch jumped up on the hammock part and loved sitting there! All 3 of them had their own space and they were all happy! I just miss Dutch so much…. So do my kitties, they really loved him too…..

Colonoscopy!

So last April, 2013 I had my 3rd colonoscopy! I certainly never thought I would have 3 colonoscopies before I turned 31!!! Unfortunately, this was my first one without my mom being there, which always make it’s harder. At least I had my dad there with me. The first picture is of me before they took me back

2013-04-25 09.44.47

I don’t know why but I just love pictures right after I get out of a procedure or surgery. They are just so real and raw, that I love them. I know people give me crap for putting them up, but I don’t care. My dad took these when I was brought back to my room.

Pete and Liz Langstraat Slide Collection

Well my dad has finally scanned in all the slides his parents took when he was young. There are slightly over 1000 slides.

There are pictures of Doppenbergs in California, Langstraats in Washington, Leusinks in Wisconsin, Doppenberg and Langstraat family reunions and other get-to-gathers. Pictures of his uncles, aunts, cousins and others. And of course pictures of their kids and some trips they took.

Please take a look at them.  Here is the link:

If you recognize someone in the pictures, please pass this link along to them as well.  Enjoy and thanks!

Book 95 of 500!

This book was Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I read the sequel first and I did see this movie which I loved. A lady I work with lent me this book, I’m glad she did, it was even better than the movie because I learned a lot more by reading the book. I love this author! I felt like I was there with the main character, and a lot of the things are so true to my life as well as so funny! Good book!

Book 94 of 500!

Book 94 was called Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert. It turned out it was the sequel to the book Eat, Pray, Love. I never read that book but I did see the movie, and I really liked it. To be honest I have no idea where I got this book from either! I’m glad I did, it was a really good book, I kind of wish it would be turned into a movie too! I really enjoyed all of the things she wrote about marriage, and all of her research that she did on the topic. A lot of times I would be nodding my head, going yes, yes, I agree, that’s so me! So it really kept my interest and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone!
