Day 51 – Fair Oaks Farm

Yesterday Darrell & me went to Fair Oaks Farm in Fair Oaks, Indiana. We had seen in the first time when we were driving to Santa Claus, Indiana a couple years ago, and then on our way home we stopped with my parent’s just to check it out. We always said we would go back, and so we finally did yesterday! The farm owns 19,000 acres! With 5 dairy farms on it. You go in to the one building and pay $10 for adults, and you walk around the building which has some hands on things to do, and some exhibits where it tells you about dairy farms and what they all do there. Then we went on a 30 minute bus tour that takes you to one of the farms, they show you everything and even drive you through one of the cow barns! After that they take you to a building where you get out, and see the milking process. I loved seeing the cows getting on and off all by themselves on the carousel! They get milked 3 times a day! Every cow! Plus we got to see the baby calves, which I love! When the bus brings you back we went to a 4D movie, which was really cute and then we went to the birthing building where we actually got to see 2 calfs born right in front of us, one right after the other! I got a video of one of them! Then we went to the farmstand and then to the cheese factory, where we bought some milk, chocolate milk, butter and cheese to take home and then we split some cookies ‘n cream ice cream, very tasty! It was another gorgeous day, and we had a great time at Fair Oaks! Then we went to Indianapolis Blvd. and ate at Round The Clock, the restaurant that looks like Machine Shed from Rockford! It was very good!! Overall, a great day!
