Book 123 of 500!

This book was called The Carrion Vine by Erane Elizabeth Scully. I loved this book so much! It took place during WW2, but instead of it being about the Holocaust it was about the camps that were in Russia, and how when Russia was moving into Poland they would just capture anyone and everyone and send them to these forced labor camps, where they weren’t much better than what the Jews experienced at the camps they were at. This story was about a mother and daughter from Switzerland on holiday in Poland visiting family, but they weren’t even Polish. Yet they got caught up in this and had to try to survive 2 years of harsh weather, environments, no medical care, no food and everything. When they finally got home, the husband/father had died trying to find them! It was such a sad story, I just don’t know how people were able to endure all this! Even more interesting is when they came to the US they now lived/live in Woodstock, IL!
